Day One In The Can

I got my juicer yesterday afternoon. I was so excited! I ended up choosing a model made by an Austrian company called Mueller. The model is the “Ultra Juicer.” It was by far the most inexpensive juicer on Amazon that had good reviews and recommendations. As of the time I am posting this, it lists on Amazon for $69.97. If I decide to continue juicing, I may upgrade to a higher-end model, but this one really does the job for now.

I have purchased a couple different books of juice recipes with tips and tricks. I am still reading through them, but I have already experienced the negative results of not following the recommendation of the books I have read.

If you are going to make up your own recipes, keep the recipes simple! You will be able to taste the notes of all the fruits and vegetables if the number of ingredients is relatively small. I was so excited about my first juicing session, I ignored this recommendation completely, using around 10 ingredients. The result wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t have the characteristics and depth of a simpler recipe.

I used the following in my first batch: carrots, celery, cucumber, kale, mint, parsley, Granny Smith apple, blueberries, wheatgrass, ginger and lime. It was just OK. I am going to try to keep things simpler from now on.

Goodbye for now. I will be checking back in sometime in the next couple days.
